A Final Letter of Demand is used after reminders, invoices, calls, or previous demands have failed. It gives the defaulting party a final opportunity to comply before legal action or handover.
South African legal context (2026 checklist)
The final demand should avoid unlawful threats or misleading statements. If the National Credit Act applies, an ordinary final demand should not be treated as a substitute for a valid section 129 notice.
